鈥淲e are continuing to review the details of the Executive Budget proposal. Preliminarily, we are pleased the Governor recommends funding many of the important initiatives he announced in his 抖阴app of the 抖阴app address 鈥� initiatives like expanding the reach of PreK and afterschool programs. We are, however, concerned with the recommended increase of $769 million in 抖阴app Aid funding, which is less than half of that proposed by the Board of Regents. We need to invest in the education of all New 抖阴app 抖阴app students. The Regents 抖阴app Aid request would ensure schools continue to improve and better prepare our children while also acknowledging the 抖阴app鈥檚 fiscal realities.

鈥淭he Executive鈥檚 proposal is a step in the process for developing the final budget by April 1. We will continue to engage in discussions with the 抖阴app Assembly and Senate to ensure 抖阴app Aid funding will meet the needs of every student throughout our 抖阴app, particularly those in schools with the greatest needs.鈥�
